Asset Manager

Manchester, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Estate Asset Manager to join our dynamic Estates team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving innovation and continuous improvement.

About the Role

Our Estates department manages essential mechanical, electrical, and building fabric infrastructure across the University. As Estate Asset Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive asset management strategy covering the entire lifecycle of University-owned assets--from handover through to decommissioning.

Working closely with Principal Engineering Managers, you will design and maintain preventative maintenance schedules that align with industry standards and demonstrate statutory compliance.

A key aspect of the role is to shape and optimise the use of our Estates CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management) system, creating a reliable "single source of truth" for asset tracking, performance monitoring, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Database Management: Maintain an accurate and comprehensive database of mechanical, electrical, and building fabric assets using the Estates CAFM system. Lifecycle Tracking: Record and monitor asset-related activities throughout their full lifecycle. Maintenance Planning: Collaborate with Principal Engineers to create detailed maintenance schedules and work orders based on best-practice standards. Capital Project Support: Play an integral role in capital projects by ensuring accurate asset data management--adding new assets, retiring decommissioned ones, and supporting project handovers.

About You

Proven experience in managing and developing asset management strategies within higher education or similarly complex environments. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. In-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, and building fabric asset standards and compliance requirements. Extensive experience with CAFM systems and data management. Relevant professional qualifications in engineering, facilities management, or asset management.

Join us at MMU and be part of a forward-thinking team committed to excellence in estate and facilities management.
