Summary of Position:
The Assistant Manager will support the Registered Manager and deputise in their absence, taking responsibility for managing the home, including the staff team, practice, budget, resources and the well-being of the children and young people. The Assistant Manager must be experienced in motivating and providing support to colleagues, and will have responsibility for training needs, supervisions, appraisals and Rota management.
The Assistant Manager will support the Registered Manager to set, monitor and meet Key Performance Indicators.
Flexible working is essential as on-call duties will form part of this role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility to promote the Protection and wellbeing of Children.
Work in line with Imagine Care's values of Partnership, Progress and Professionalism.
Contribute to the assessment of children and young people's risks and needs through the development of care plans and risk management plans.
Promote and lead on trauma informed practice, ensuring that the experiences and needs of young people are understood and appropriate supports are put in place.
To ensure the therapeutic care of children and young people and be a positive role model.
Lead in the application of the organisation's Outcomes Tracker and online care management software.
To manage a team of Residential Support Workers, lead in Team Meetings and highlight development needs of staff, through supervision and appraisals.
Promote, monitor, and maintain health and safety in the working environment in accordance with policy and procedure
Support and mentor the staff team to ensure children and young people manage their lives and achieve their full potential whilst preparing them for adulthood.
Ensure safeguarding of children and young people from danger, harm, and abuse.
Contribute to the prevention and management of challenging behaviour in children and young people, promoting the model of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
Awareness and responsibility for the health and safety of children, young people, colleagues, and yourself.
Support Children and young people to attend education, engaging with educational staff as required.

Implement practices which foster positive working relationships productive networks with all stakeholders and local communities.

To participate on an On-call system, offering extra support, advice, and guidance to residential support staff.
To undertake such tasks deemed appropriate to the post and the remit and development of the service.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
SVQ 3 & HNC in Social Care or equivalent.
SVQ level 4 Dip SW, CQSW, Management qualification or working towards.
Appropriate Registration with the SSSC must be completed within 3 months of start commencing in the post if you are not already registered.

Skills and Experience
Significant residential care experience.
Experience of working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect.
Leadership experience.
The ability to communicate effectively and lead a team efficiently.
Supervisory experience
Experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies including contracting.
Experience of working in other settings
Experience of development of systems and procedures
Experience of direct work with families
Passion to develop further services for children/young people
Tolerance, patience, sensitivity, warmth, understanding, humor, flexibility, and honesty.
Knowledge and Ability
A wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and an understanding of support strategies.
Working Knowledge of legislation in relation to residential childcare, including Health & Social Care Standards, Children (Scotland) Act 1995, Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 GIRFEC and all relevant National Guidance.
An understanding of the process of child development.
Understanding the principles of safeguarding and child protection
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of teamwork
