About the role:
Join our dynamic finance team and play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of our accounts payable processes. We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to manage various tasks, from processing invoices to supporting month-end reconciliations, all while upholding compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
The role is based in our Northampton office with the opportunity to work from home 2 days per week, if required.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately process and verify invoices in line with approval processes.
Prepare and execute payment runs, including electronic transfers and cheque payments.
Reconcile vendor statements and promptly resolve discrepancies.
Maintain precise and up-to-date accounts payable records and ledgers.
Assist with month-end closing activities, such as accounts reconciliation and journal entries.
Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to address inquiries and enhance processes.
Monitor and report on accounts payable aging, ensuring timely payment processing.
Support audit requirements by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
About you
Demonstrated experience in a high-volume accounts payable or finance role.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
AAT qualification or equivalent preferred (study support available).
