Are you an organised, detail-focused finance professional eager to develop your career in a supportive and dynamic environment? We're looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team, providing essential accounting support to our rented and extra care housing services.
What You'll Do
Prepare and post accounting entries including re-codes, re-charges, accruals, and pre-payments
Review and report on service charge and revenue variances with insightful commentary
Support the annual budgeting process, providing guidance and training to operational teams
Provide first-line finance support and training to operational colleagues via various communication channels
Prepare balance sheet and fund account reconciliations in line with deadlines
Help operational managers develop financial management skills through proactive support and advice
Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Work collaboratively with the wider finance team and contribute to continuous process improvements
What We're Looking For
AAT qualification (or equivalent experience) or willingness to undertake study
Experience in a customer-focused finance role, preferably within housing or a large multi-site organisation
Strong understanding of service charge legislation and housing finance processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced Excel and IT skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Willingness to travel occasionally across UK locations
