Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be working alongside a long-standing client, well-known in their industry to appoint a new role of Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in Arbroath, Angus on a full-time permanent basis. You'll be joining a family business at heart, who have grown internationally and whose team strive for excellence. A fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified Accountant, who can support the Finance Business Partner in their completion of monthly and annual accounts.

The Opportunity

As the Assistant Accountant your role will involve:


To prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the UK part of the business and its subsidiaries Calculate journal entries, ensuring accuracy To support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of schedules and reconciliations To reconcile inventory records with financial data To assist with payroll processing, liaising with external payroll providers as required Post payroll related journals Prepare and submit VAT returns Support weekly, monthly and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis

The Candidate

You will ideally be part-qualified in an Accounting qualification at professional level Ideally proven experience working in an role where you complete accounts to Trial Balance Excellent Microsoft Excel experience, and good finance systems knowledge Experience in Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, supporting month-end and year-end processes, payroll processing, VAT returns and financial reporting. You will ideally have excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with an ability to manage workload and use initiative.

Terms and Benefits

Salary on offer - 30,000 - 35,000 depending on experience Pension 3% employer / 5% employee contributions Ideally fully office working, but maybe consider 1 day working from home 37.5 hour working week - Monday to Friday (Flexible start/finish times) Optional BUPA scheme Free Parking 30 days annual leave
