The Scotch Whisky Experience is a 5-star visitor attraction next to Edinburgh Castle. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work in our busy finance team. The role provides experience across all aspects of the finance function which services our various revenue streams including the ticketed visitor attraction, on-premise retail, restaurant, bars and event spaces.

THE ROLE WITHIN THE FINANCE TEAM



The Finance team works together to process the company's financial transactions, produce detailed management accounts and KPIs to deadlines and support the rest of the business.

The Assistant Accountant is primarily responsible for the Purchase Ledger, retail EPOS system, some month end accounts tasks and more generally to support the Head of Finance.

There is a lot of variety in the job and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with all aspects of the finance function and develop the role. There are always new jobs to do and improvements we can make with processes and systems and reporting.

MAIN JOB ELEMENTS



Processing purchase ledger invoices and supplier statement reconciliations. Handling banking tasks, till reconciliations and merchant reports. Posting and reconciling daily revenue and investigating discrepancies. Supporting the month-end process with journals, accruals, and reconciliations. Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and audit. Generating regular internal reports and maintaining service level agreements. Contributing to the continuous improvement of finance systems and processes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



A minimum of 3 years experience in a Finance function is required. AAT Accounting qualification or equivalent is essential. Working knowledge of Excel is expected. Experience of Sage200 is desirable The role requires someone proactive with strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail. The candidate must be prepared to tackle problem solving and enjoy taking ownership of their tasks. They must have the tenacity to follow up everything to conclusion. The candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills, dealing directly with all levels of the business and external stakeholders. The business requires a flexible attitude where team members are expected to assist in other departments when required.

HOURS, SALARY & BENEFITS



Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Location: 354 Castlehill, The Royal Mile, Edinburgh EH1 2NE

Salary: between 30,000 and 32,000 per annum depending on experience.

Pension: Group Personal Pension with statutory contributions of Employer 3% and Employee 5%. Employees may increase their contributions if they wish.

Holidays: 28 days per annum including public holidays. The Scotch Whisky Experience is open every day of the year except Christmas day so the business is open on public holidays.
