The Accountancy Office is an established and multi award-winning accounting firm based in Evesham, Worcestershire. We pride ourselves on our proactive and personal approach and work closely with our clients to provide a service that is tailored to their individual needs.

We are a cloud-based accountancy firm providing both bookkeeping, compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients, working only with Xero accounting software and embracing digital solutions. We provide a fully managed and outsourced finance function to the majority of our clients.

You will play a pivotal role as our experienced and tech-focused

Assistant Accountant.

What You'll Receive from Us



A salary of up to 35,000 per annum, based on a full time role and dependent on skills, qualifications and experience. We also offer discretionary bonuses dependent on results and productivity.

28 days annual leave, including bank holidays - as a minimum. As a results focused environment, we offer discretionary additional days too, depending on results and productivity. The longer you work for us, the more annual leave days you will receive. We'll also offer gym membership, private health care and access to well-being support.

You will enjoy a relaxing break over the Christmas and New Year period every year as our office closes for the festive period. We don't file any tax returns in January so you won't have to dread returning to work in January to face a mountain of tax returns either!

What We Need From You



As an accounting superstar we need the following:

AAT qualified at Level 3 (or higher) A minimum of two years accounting practice experience Experience using Xero software in a practice environment

Your responsibilities



Carrying out bookkeeping and VAT returns within the team. Supporting our interal payroll function in running both weekly and monthly payrolls. Preparation of CT600s, VAT returns and personal tax returns. Preparation of management and financial accounts. Supporting clients with both general and technical queries. Ensuring internal turnaround times, weekly targets and deadlines are met. Liaising with HMRC Presenting accounting and reporting information to our clients. Developing and maintaining client relationships whilst actively seeking new ways to add value to our clients. Ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service. Help the team and our clients prepare for Making Tax Digital.

Skills & Qualities



A friendly, confident, informal and personable approach to working with your clients. Technically competent in accounts and tax preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong IT and problem solving skills are essential. Excellent customer service skills. An experienced Xero Certified Advisor (preferred). Adaptable, innovative and able to work on your own initiative. A highly motivated team player. Flexible approach with the ability to meet strict deadlines. Conscientious with excellent attention to detail. Highly organised. Willing to get involved and support all areas of the business.

Hours of work



This is a hybrid role (10% office based, 90% remote). The majority of the working week will be remote but there is a regular need to attend in-person client and team meetings in Evesham, Worcestershire when required.

You must have at least two years prior experience of working in a busy accountancy practice.
