Role Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant (Level 3) to join our Finance and Commercial Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career or looking to transition into a new sector. You'll gain valuable, hands-on experience in a fast-paced, supportive finance environment--perfect for building your skills and confidence as you work towards your qualifications.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will study towards the AAT Level 3 qualification, building a strong foundation in finance principles while applying what you learn on the job.
We're seeking a dynamic and engaged individual who is detail-oriented, organised, and eager to learn. You'll be supported by experienced professionals and encouraged to develop your skills as you contribute to key accounting and administrative tasks across the business.
Responsibilities
You will encounter a wide range of financial tasks including:
Supporting the Finance Team in everyday tasks, which involve bookkeeping, Xero reconciliation and receipt chasing.
Assist with processing invoices, payments, and staff expenses in line with internal procedures.
Support the preparation of financial reports and reconciliations, including month-end activities.
Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records, ensuring data is up to date and securely stored.
Help with data entry and regularly update internal finance systems and spreadsheets.
Communicate professionally with clients and suppliers via email and phone to resolve queries or request information.
Provide general administrative support to the Finance and Commercial Team as needed.
Personal Qualities and Experience
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, curious, and ready to start their journey in finance. You don't need prior experience -- just the right attitude and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will have:
A genuine interest in finance and accounting and a desire to build a career in the field
Good numerical and analytical skills, with a logical approach to problem-solving
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in their work
A willingness to learn, take feedback, and develop both professionally and personally
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade 4/C or above
A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work well in a team environment
