We are seeking a motivated and capable Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for a finance professional looking to take the next step in their career with an organisation that values integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity




Reporting to the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, you will play a key role in the production of monthly management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, and maintaining robust financial controls. You will also lead a small team and contribute to the ongoing development of our financial systems and reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts and reports.
Support budget preparation, implementation, and performance monitoring. Oversee the Fixed Asset Register and capitalisation processes. Supervise and maintain the accounting and order processing system. Line-manage accounts staff, supporting recruitment, development, and performance. Ensure compliance with statutory returns and regulatory requirements. Proactively identify and implement improvements in financial reporting. Provide continuity and support in the absence of the FP&A Manager.


What We're Looking For

Essential:



AAT qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years' experience in a similar role. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Demonstrated experience in managing and developing finance staff. Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines. A collaborative, proactive approach to work and problem-solving.

Desirable:



Part-qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA). Experience in the health or social care sector. Experience delivering training and financial guidance to non-finance stakeholders.
