Job Role: Assistant Accountant




Location: Worcester/New Milton




Hours: 35 hours per week Monday to Friday

Main Purpose of Job





The main purpose of the Assistant Accountant is to support the financial health of a business by ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, monitoring incoming payments, and maintaining accounts receivable. They play a critical role in managing cash flow by following up on outstanding invoices, resolving billing discrepancies, and processing receipts. By ensuring that payments are collected efficiently and recorded correctly, they help the finance team maintain accurate financial reporting and support the overall financial operations of the company.


Position in Organisation





This role reports to the Director of Finance in Innovus.


Main Responsibilities




Raise and issue accurate sales invoices & proforma invoices in a timely manner. Monitor and reconcile bank and customer accounts to ensure payments are received as scheduled Follow up on overdue invoices via phone and email professionally and persistently Process and allocate incoming payments correctly in the accounting system Assist with month-end close by preparing AR-related reports and reconciliations to debtor report and income recorded. Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies or billing issues Maintain accurate and organised records of transactions and communications Support for Building Safety fund client payments and client bank reconciliations. Support for the preparation of AVIVA client quarterly management accounts.

Skills and Experience


Working towards a professional accounting qualification such as AAT 1-2 years of experience in an accounts receivable, credit control, or similar finance role Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Confident communication and interpersonal skills, especially for chasing payments Good Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables) Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage and Workday Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities Strong organisational and time management abilities A proactive and problem-solving mindset
