We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Bars Manager to join our fantastic Food & Beverage team here at Old Thorns. We are looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and will work well within our great bar team, providing guests with excellent service.

Working as part of our Food and Beverage team, you will be expected to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills. You will need to be passionate and knowledgeable about drinks and be confident in providing guests with the correct drink choice. The role will give you the opportunity to learn and develop, with the potential to progress within the company. This is a hands on, operational role and will suit someone who likes working with friendly and hardworking people in a bar setting. We have several bars within the hotel: Sports Bar is a busy casual bar popular with our golfers and sporting guests, Atrium Cocktail Bar is a great place to show off or develop your mixology skills and our function bars are certainly busy when in use, especially on a tribute night.

Old Thorns is a four-star resort located in Liphook, Hampshire. The hotel is easily accessible from the A3, and only 30 minutes from Guildford and Portsmouth. Old Thorns offers a wide range of accommodation, conference & function facilities, health club, beauty spa, restaurants & bars, a championship golf course.

Main Responsibilities:

To have a good knowledge and understanding of all hotel facilities, outlets and services available To have a thorough knowledge of all applicable food menus and beverages available. This is to include the preparation and service of all products To supervise bar staff and ensure the quality and standards of service are maintained at all times at the level laid down by the company To ensure all guests are served in accordance with company procedures, taking every opportunity to up sell To ensure the bar is fully stocked at all times To ensure the bar is clean and presentable at all times to the standards set by the company To follow all bar procedures, i.e. 'opening and closing duties' To exercise effective stock rotation and maintain stock levels in accordance with hotel business. To participate with liquor stock counts and ensure good results are achieved in line with budget To suggest and organise ways of up selling in the bar department maximising departmental profits

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

Smart personal presentation and polite and friendly manner Passionate about delivering the highest standards of customer care Excellent standards of spoken English Previous experience as a Bar Supervisor or Asst Bar Manager
