VANRATH are recruiting an Assistant Buyer to work for a leading facade contractor, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Remuneration: Negotiable DOE + benefits Client Our client is a leading provider of architectural facade glazing and cladding systems within the UK construction industry. They provide professional services to many of the market leading Main Contractors in the industry. Their highly dedicated team have extensive knowledge relating to all areas of architectural facades; from Bolted glass, curtain walling, windows, Unitised and fully bespoke solutions, Aluminium, Steel & Fire rated, they have successfully completed hundreds of facades. Overview: To support the Procurement team and develop your career and progress to Buyer level long term. The Assistant Buyer will assist with the duties below and step up to a full Buyer role in time. Buyer Role and Responsibilities Include:
Identifying, selecting and approving suppliers
Maintain Approved Supplier List, ensuring that documentation are kept up to date
Place Purchase Orders with Suppliers for Goods and Services in line with budget, quality and delivery requirements
Being the first point of contact for all suppliers and subcontractors
Expedite all orders and communicate with Operations Team on a daily basis to highlight any shortfalls or potential issues that may disrupt business operations
Provide analysis of costs and identify cost saving opportunities
Maintain relationships with current suppliers. Establish Supplier KPIs and Service Level Agreements
Attend internal cross functional progress meetings on a weekly basis via Teams
Ensure that Purchase Order values are kept up to date capturing any variations and highlighting to the commercial Team
Assess and Evaluate supplier performance, providing feedback
Contact Suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues raising supplier non-conformances when issues arise
Support estimating and commercial team with tenders and price queries
The Ideal Person:
Degree qualified or other relevant qualifications
Procurement background ideally within the construction industry
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel Previous experience of using an ERP system preferably SAGE
Ability to work effectively under pressure and good deal with multiple demands
Strive for continuous improvement and comfortable suggesting improvement of processes
Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail
Ability to network and build strong relationships both internally and externally
