The role is accountable for conducting tenders and obtaining quotes, analysing data, regular reporting and ensuring compliance to internal policies and procedures. As part of the wider Procurement team, the role will be expected to support any initiatives and processes, and actively contribute to the delivery of the teams strategy. The role will require regular supplier and subcontractor sourcing, engagement and support.

The successful candidate will be responsible for fulfilling significant / complex material requisitions to point of order as well as supporting with supply chain and subcontract category management. This includes accountability for the creation of Intelligence Reports and support with Supply Chain Strategies, pipeline projects and management of Procurement Schedules. The successful candidate will also be tasked with ensuring utilisation of group agreements by the business and the subcontract supply chain.

What you\'ll be doing

As an Assistant Buyer you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Fulfilling requisitions on behalf of the business
  • Provide support, resolve queries and offer advice
  • Ensuring internal spend compliance
  • Sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotations
  • Conducting tender processes
  • Commodity research and spend analysis
  • Supplier meetings and engagement
  • Supporting with Supply Chain Strategies
  • Supporting with Procurement Schedules
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders supported by the Procurement team
  • Identifying key trends or opportunities for cost reduction
  • Negotiating discounts and savings
  • Supplier performance management
  • Subcontract Supply Chain & Category Management
  • Ensuring accurate reporting of savings and value add activities
  • Ensuring adherence to procurement processes and procedures
Who we\'re looking for

The following skills are essential:
  • Equivalent experience would be advantageous
  • Highly results orientated (proven track record of exceeding targets)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets
  • Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with the team, stakeholders and suppliers
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexible and driven
  • Customer focussed
  • Problem solving skills, ability to use own initiative to identify areas of improvement & propose solutions.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self Starter
