Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated & committed individual to join the very busy Catering department at Prince Philip Hospital.



The Assistant Catering Manager will be responsible for all of the operational activities within the Catering Department. This includes the supervision of all staff within the Department and all activities throughout the food services.



The Post holder will need to be a competent cook, as they will need to cover staff shortages when the need arises.



The position available is 1 x 37.5 hour post per week Monday - Friday.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.



Main duties will include:



Organise, supervise and control all staff activities within the Catering Department including peripheral Hospitals.



Ensure that all staff report for duty at the appropriate times and ensure that all catering personnel adhere to the health board uniform policy.



Ensure that all staff adhere to the allocated meal / break times.



Undertake return to work sickness / absence counselling as and when required. Undertake staff performance counselling and first line disciplinary counselling.



Ensure that duty rota's are compiled to facilitate adequate staff cover for the Department at all times. Allocate and monitor the level of overtime worked.



Assist the Catering Manager in the recruitment and selection process of all new staff.



Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.



We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.



We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.



Our services are provided in:



Four main hospitals:

Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest

Five community hospitals:

Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire

Two integrated care centres:

Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings

47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers

Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
