Due to continued success and growth, we are now seeking an Assistant Contract Manager to support the delivery and development of our contracts.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in logistics, operations, or contract support within utilities or related industries, who is looking to progress their career and gain hands-on experience in contract management.

The Assistant Contract Manager will work closely with the Contract Manager and other operational leads, supporting with day-to-day delivery, workforce coordination, and client-facing activities.

The position is primarily based at an operational base but will involve travel to client sites as required.

Responsibilities



Working alongside the Contract Manager, you will provide operational and administrative support to ensure smooth delivery of the contract. Responsibilities include:

Assisting with the mobilisation and ongoing delivery of the contract Supporting day-to-day operational activities, including workforce coordination and logistics Helping to manage fleet, tools, equipment, and stock issued to operatives, ensuring accountability Liaising directly with clients and workforce to support contract performance and resolve day-to-day issues Assisting with workforce scheduling and monitoring completions against planned outputs Supporting the delivery of health, safety, quality, and customer service standards Providing first-line support to operatives on the job, escalating issues where required Assisting with investigations, documenting outcomes, and helping implement additional mentoring or training as identified Maintaining accurate records and reporting operational or client-led changes to the Contract Manager Contributing to process improvements and efficiency gains Supporting the commercial team with basic reporting, data collection, and cost tracking

Skills and qualifications



Qualified in a related field

Full UK driving licence

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programmes

Project Management Qualifications a bonus

Experience, Competencies, and Knowledge



Essential



Previous exposure to workforce coordination, site support, or client-facing operations Strong organisational and problem-solving skills Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build relationships with workforce and clients A proactive, "hands-on" approach with the ability to use initiative

Desirable



Experience working in utilities, energy, logistics, or a similar sector Experience of metering projects in Water or Power sectors Knowledge of scheduling/job management systems used in field operations General understanding of Health & Safety practices and industry regulations Technical knowledge in plumbing, electrical, or gas
