Assistant Contracts Manager

Aldershot, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Join a Quality-Focused Specialist Tiling Contractor

We are

seeking an ambitious Assistant Contracts Manager to support our growing portfolio of ceramic tiling projects across the South-East and South-West.

This is a genuine development role for someone ready to learn the craft of contracts management from experienced professionals while making an immediate, tangible contribution to project delivery.

About Specialist Ceramics Ltd

We're a specialist ceramic tiling contractor working with major housebuilders, main contractors, and clients across residential, commercial, and leisure sectors. Our reputation is built on two non-negotiable principles: exceptional quality of workmanship and a customer-centric approach to every project we undertake.

We don't chase volume--we pursue excellence. Whether it's a luxury residential development, a commercial fit-out, or a leisure facility, we apply the same rigorous standards and attention to detail. Our network of trusted sub-contracted labour and supply chain partnerships enable us to maintain control over quality from first fix to final handover.

The Role

Reporting to our Senior Contracts Manager, you'll provide hands-on support across multiple live projects, helping to coordinate tiling works from inception through to practical completion. This is a site-based role--expect to spend the majority of your time travelling between sites across the South-East and South-West, engaging directly with site teams, clients, and subcontractors.

You'll assist in planning labour and materials, monitoring progress against programme, conducting quality inspections, and maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders. Crucially, you'll be learning the full spectrum of contracts management: from reading specifications and managing variations to understanding the commercial and quality assurance aspects that underpin successful project delivery.

This isn't a desk job. You'll be visible on sites, solving problems in real-time, and developing the practical judgement that separates competent administrators from effective contracts managers.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Senior Contracts Manager in coordinating ceramic tiling projects, ensuring work progresses on schedule and to specification Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality standards, and adherence to health & safety protocols Assist in planning and allocating labour, materials, and resources across concurrent projects Liaise with clients, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to maintain smooth project coordination Help prepare project documentation including progress reports, variation records, and site meeting minutes Identify and promptly report any issues affecting programme, quality, or compliance Support quality control procedures through regular inspections and defect management Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and project outcomes

About You

Some practical experience in construction project coordination, site management, or contracts administration Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project processes Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Clear, professional communication skills High attention to detail and quality-focused mindset Proficiency in Microsoft Office Understanding of health and safety practices

Desirable

Familiarity with ceramic tiling works, materials, and installation processes Experience working with main contractors, housebuilders, or specialist subcontractors Knowledge of contract administration principles CSCS card or relevant construction qualifications Demonstrable problem-solving ability and initiative

What We Offer

Company vehicle or car allowance (due to extensive site travel requirements) Structured on-the-job development under experienced senior management Genuine career progression pathway within a quality-focused contractor Exposure to diverse, high-profile projects across multiple sectors Opportunity to develop comprehensive contracts management expertise in a specialist trade
