The hourly rate for this role is 12.45 to 12.65.
Working Pattern
Term time + 2 weeks (41 weeks per year). Monday and Tuesday afternoon/evenings 11:00 - 18:30 (half hour break). 14 hours per week.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation of meals, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and safety. The role would suit somebody that can scale up their quantities to batch cook delicious meals for children and young people that visit us on their school residential. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and menus.
Ensure that all food preparation areas are clean and organised, adhering to food safety standards.
Help with the daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes.
Support the senior cook and other kitchen staff in maintaining a smooth workflow during service times.
Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards.
Participate in inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and reporting any shortages or discrepancies.
Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by washing utensils, pots, pans, and other equipment as required.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a restaurant, school or kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary skills.
Understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
