Assistant Cook (Part-time)
We are looking for an experience, flexible and reliable person to join our team and assist the Chef Manager to provide the high standards our members expect.
Our new Assistant Cook will be someone who has experience working in a busy catering environment. A qualification of NVQ or Part One in Basic Food Hygiene or equivalent is essential. To have completed an accredited training course in catering is desirable.
This appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

The role of the Assistant Cook is to assist the Chef Manager in the provision of meals and snacks and to provide cover during their absence:
Main Duties
To work as part of a team with the Chef Manager and Kitchen Assistant
Assisting in the preparation of food for the Hub and Meals-on-Wheels
Ensuring correct standards of Health & Hygiene are maintained in all areas of the kitchen
Under the direction of the Chef Manager, to undertake any tasks relating to the preparation and serving of food, plating of meals for Meals-on-Wheels delivery, clearing away and cleaning
Work within the recommended good practice as outlined in the Food Hygiene [England Regulations] 2006
To take responsibility for the kitchen and food preparation when the Chef Manager is absent

Essential
Relevant, recent experience working in a busy catering environment
NVQ or Part One in Basic Food Hygiene or equivalent
Able to evidence the ability to provide healthy, tasty and nutritious meals to a high standard
Be able to work as part of a team but equally comfortable working unsupervised
Able to work under timescale pressures
To be flexible and adaptable
Willing to attend training as required
