Fawkes and Reece are currently working with a Tier 1 main contractor who is looking to add an
Assistant Design Manager
to their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in design or contracting who is keen to progress their career with a leading construction company.
As an Assistant Design Manager, you will support the design process from tender stage through to project completion. You will work closely with the design and project teams to coordinate information, manage documentation, and ensure that all design outputs align with programme requirements and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing scopes of work and design programmes
Support design coordination, verification, and value engineering activities
Attend and contribute to design meetings and workshops
Organise and manage design-related documentation
Collate and submit information for third-party approvals (e.g. BREEAM, client insurers)
Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure design compliance
Assist with project reporting and handover documentation
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years' experience in design or contracting
HNC/HND in a construction-related discipline (minimum)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and time-management abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and design-related software
CSCS card required
Desirable:
Degree or membership of a professional body (e.g. MCIOB)
Experience across a range of sectors
Advanced Excel skills
