Assistant Development Manager

Westminster, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About Us:

-------------

Regeneration, Planning and Economy in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where dedicated and focused people like Mihir are using all their skills to improve and enhance the lives of the people who live, work and play in our borough.

As a Senior Project Manager, it's Mihir's job to make sure the estates in the south of the borough are great places to live. Since joining us, he's worked on many important projects, but is particularly proud of a recently completed major works project at Vale Royal House, in the heart of bustling Chinatown. In the pipeline for about 12 years, renovating the site has been one of the most complex and challenging projects ever undertaken by the council.

Before work started, Mihir had to liaise with dozens of different stakeholders, taking into account local events such as the Chinese New Year celebrations and the vibrant, round-the clock nature of the area. But after a challenging two year programme he and his team are proud to have delivered upgrade work to 117 state-of-the-art apartments set around a beautiful hidden courtyard, which are home to more than 1500 people from a hugely diverse range of backgrounds, sitting above 15 new commercial food and retail shops.

Mihir is dedicated to providing homes that people can cherish and be proud of, places where they can live, work and raise their families. His vision and inspiration has been the driving force behind the transformation of a rundown inner-city area into an oasis of peace, calm and security, and will allow its residents to grow and flourish in the heart of one of the world's great capital cities.

The Role:

-------------

As Assistant Development Manager, you too can make a powerful contribution. You'll be helping to see projects through the development cycle, from concept to occupation. This will entail assisting specialists internally and externally to ensure that forecasts, programmes, costs, design and quality standards and timescales are all met. As well as assessing and overseeing all risks, including health and safety, in an appropriate manner. Key to this will be building meaningful relationships across Westminster City Council teams, developers, contracts, agents, legal advisers, consultants and property companies.

When garnering an understanding of a project and developing its brief, the Development Manager or Senior Development Manager will be on-hand to consult with - and at times, you may deputise for either role. Throughout the project lifecycle, you'll contribute to the communication of a project by taking minutes at design and progress meetings; providing accurate, timely reports; and updating development plans, including supporting the monitoring of key performance indictors.

Get involved in the essentials that bring a project to life -- from planning permission applications and technical proposals to site evaluations, budgeting, and wrapping up the final design. Alongside your team members, you'll procure and manage multi-disciplinary project teams. In both the procurement and development process, you'll ensure that all compliance, client requirements, design and technical standards are all robustly adhered to. After completion, you'll assist with the handover and aftercare, ensuring that implications are understood and formal approval obtained.

You're prepared to represent Regeneration, Planning and Economy, engendering its team spirit, and working within a project and the wider team to achieve mutual objectives. Plus, you're ready to commit to our overall goal of a Westminster that prioritises social value and the circular economy.
