Are you a strategic leader with a passion for planning and portfolio management? Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the Assistant Director of Planning. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital health and care services in Wales.



About the Role:



As the Assistant Director of Planning, you will be responsible for leading the strategic planning and portfolio management functions within DHCW. You will work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans that align with our organisational goals. Your role will involve overseeing the portfolio management process, ensuring that our projects and initiatives are effectively managed and delivered on time. You will be the professional lead for our Planning and Portfolio Management framework covering strategic, operational and emergency planning functions.



Key Responsibilities:



Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives.



Oversee the portfolio management process, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.



Establish and maintain PMO standards to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.



Collaborate with senior leadership and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.



Provide expert advice on strategic planning, portfolio, programme, and project management.



Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is an expert national body and part of NHS Wales. We work in partnership with NHS Wales colleagues and other key stakeholders to provide national digital and data services which support the delivery of health and social care in Wales. Modern health and care services depend on good digital tools, data and information. DHCW runs or works with more than 100 services and delivers major national digital transformation programmes to support this. In addition, DHCW provides expert advice in relation to cyber security and information governance. We give frontline staff the digital tools which help them provide safer and more efficient care. We are also giving patients and the public digital tools to better manage their own health and wellbeing, empowering people to live healthier lives. About You:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic planning and portfolio management, with substantial experience in a leadership role. You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be working closely with a range of stakeholders, including senior leadership, project teams, and external partners.



Qualifications:



You will typically have programme, portfolio management and benefits certifications and advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of planning and project frameworks and methodologies.



Proven experience in strategic planning and portfolio management,



Strong leadership and team management skills.



Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.



Strong communication and interpersonal skills.



Experience in the health and care sector is desirable but not essential.
