Job Introduction
The Assistant Engineering Manager for Asset Protection will support the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for managing the engineering and technical compliance of the project asset protection scheme and implementation in line with design assessments and 3rd party asset owner requirements. This includes asset protection mitigation schemes and the instrumentation and monitoring, which requires the interpretation and assessment of monitoring data to demonstrate the works have been carried out in a controlled manner and interfacing with the 3rd party asset owners.
The 3rd party asset owners include NR and TfL, relating to impacted tracks, gantries, bridges, retaining walls, stations and other track assets. Many buildings are also impacted, including listed buildings and heritage assets, both of which follow their own assurance processes.
The role is diverse in terms of coordinating with external consultants that have undertaken the assessments and mitigation designs, as well as the liaison with the asset owners and coordination with the SCS Delivery Teams, Technical Assurance Engineers, I&M teams, and Damage Claim teams.
Key elements of this role is to oversee the management and coordination of Asset Protection and I&M works, which requires providing technical support and guidance to delivery teams, managing change through NCRS , RFIs and FCDs, reviews of temporary work design and mitigation strategies, and ensuring adequate protection and monitoring is in place, interpreted and documented before, during and after the impact on the 3rd party assets.
The position reports to the Engineering Manager (Asset Protection) and is part of a team of engineering managers in Tunnels and Shafts.
