Assistant Finance Director

Job Description

Our client, a prestigious international hospitality company, is seeking an Assistant Finance Director to lead the finance function for their International operations. Based in London, this role will oversee the Finance team, manage daily operations, and collaborate with senior leadership to drive business performance. The successful candidate will ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial reports, with a strong focus on results, trends, and forecasts.

Key Responsibilities



Business Partnering



Attend daily and weekly leadership meetings. Analytics - leading projects on Customer behaviour Utilising Customer Data for Power BI / Tableau Dashboarding Lead weekly Profit & Loss (P&L) reviews with senior management and the finance team. Conduct monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reviews, tracking agreed-upon actions. Act as Deputy to the Finance Director during absences. Provide financial insights and troubleshooting support to the Finance Director. Assist in the roll-out of new finance initiatives and projects.

Financial Reporting



Manage the month-end close process and internal reporting timelines in line with shareholder expectations. Finalize monthly P&L reports and variance analyses. Prepare financial content for monthly executive summaries. Conduct monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations and reviews. Monitor and report Capital Expenditure on a monthly and ad-hoc basis. Participate in quarterly Balance Sheet reviews with the Finance and Managing Directors. Support annual budgeting processes. Ensure timely submission of VAT returns in accordance with HMRC guidelines. Prepare and review monthly financial forecasts with senior leadership.

Internal Controls



Proactively maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets. Keep contract and company license registries up to date. Manage the Fixed Asset register. Oversee cash flow and ensure effective liquidity management. Supervise banking activities and ensure compliance with authorization protocols. Lead preparation for annual audits, addressing prior audit findings and implementing corrective actions.

Leadership & Team Development



Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders and vendors. Lead by example, offering clear direction and support to the finance team. Oversee recruitment and professional development plans for team members. Conduct monthly one-to-one meetings with direct reports and share updates with the Finance Director. Participate in annual performance reviews and talent development initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience



Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA). Extensive senior finance experience in a high-end hospitality setting or retail. Experience of Power BI - Would be useful Strong knowledge of F&B accounting, financial controls, IFRS, and UK GAAP. Proven experience with VAT submissions and compliance. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing new financial processes.

Pay: 95,000.00-110,000.00 per year
