Assistant Financial Controller
who will support the Finance Director in overseeing the accounting operations and ensuring the accurate financial reporting throughout multiple entities connected to Taymouth Castle Estate and Moness Resort. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and supporting with strategic decision-making. This role combines core financial oversight and an understanding of the luxury industry's unique financial dynamics, including high-value transactions, brand prestige and customer experience considerations.

The Assistant Financial Controller role supports the Finance Director to ensure the integrity of financial reporting, with adherence to internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Playing a key role in budgeting, forecasting, audits, and financial analysis. Supporting with strategic business decisions when required.
Focus will be on management of the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, in conjunction with third-party accounting services provider. To ensure that the processing of invoices and payments are completed on time.
Taking responsibility for coordinating weekly and monthly payment runs, including invoice verification, approval tracking, bank uploads, and reconciliation. Ensuring payments are processed in accordance with DLC policies and supplier agreements while optimizing cash flow.
Review and code staff expense reports and corporate debit card transactions. You ensure they are compliant with internal expense policies, proper VAT treatment, and are posted to the general ledger accurately.
You act as the key liaison for all accounts payable related inquiries, coordinating with third-party service providers and internal teams to resolve any invoice disputes, missing payments, and supplier queries. Maintaining strong vendor relationships, ensuring service-level adherence is maintained. Consulting with external partners to ensure accounts payable ageing is kept tidy and up to date.
Reconciling intercompany transactions and assisting with month end. Processing, preparing, and reviewing accruals and prepayments. Assisting with the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger.
Assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements; balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
Assisting with the submission of VAT returns, ensuring full compliance. Monitor VAT postings and reconciliations, investigating anomalies.
Support the year-end audit process, ensuring the timely delivery of accurate financial data, audit schedules, and supporting documentation.
Ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with accounting policies and procedures while contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems. The right-hand of the Finance Director with a focus on accounts payable and in overseeing and maintaining the relationship with external partners; acting as the point of contact for queries and managing those outcomes successfully.

A bachelor's degree, part qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent qualification) with prior experience. Previous experience within a luxury hospitality environment would be preferred but is not essential.
A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Product Suite, including Excel. Experience with SAGE Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Fourth (Adaco) would be a distinct advantage.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks by prioritizing effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
A high level of accuracy and diligence is essential, ensuring the integrity of financial information. Collaborating closely with other members of the finance team and effectively with various departments when needed.
A positive attitude together with a natural ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times. Exceptional communication, influencing and people skills with a natural ability to build rapport and strong relationships to ensure we all deliver exemplary service to our members, their guests and team members.
