Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Controller to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will support the overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing financial guidance to support the organisation's growth for two companies in a family run business. This position requires a strong understanding of financial management, accounting software, and effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments. Responsibilities

Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. Manage accounts receivable, including invoice processing and chasing outstanding debtors Manage accounts receivable including approval of payment processing and approval of payments. Implement and maintain robust financial management systems using accounting software QuickBooks, Advanced online. Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Completing quarterly VAT returns for 2 companies ensuring accuracy and timely submission. Calculating the payroll for 2 companies to ensure accuracy, and timely submission to HMRC. Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing processes. Liaise with external statutory accountants and ensure all necessary documentation is provided. Monitor cash flow and manage working capital effectively to support operational needs. Provide guidance on financial policies and procedures to enhance overall organisational efficiency.

Experience

Proven experience as in a similar role within a finance department. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly in relation to accounts payable processes. Ability to adhere to accounting deadlines Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Demonstrated experience in financial management accounting and forecasting. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively. Exceptional communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders. Minimum qualification AAT level 4 and above with 5 years accountancy experience
