This Opportunity:
The Assistant Financial Controller supports the global Finance function in the production of management and statutory accounts, the delivery of insightful and actionable information to the Group leadership team and sets the standard for accounting and reporting for the Regional Finance teams.
Location & Position Details:
The position is based in Palladium's London office, within our United Kingdom, Europe, and Africa (UKEA) region. Please note that applicants must have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Palladium supports a hybrid working model with 3 days in office, 2 days from home.
Reporting Lines:
The Assistant Financial Controller reports to Group Financial Controller and supports the Group Finance function and Group leadership team
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the Group Financial Controller in the production of financial and statutory reporting, the annual audit and value-added monthly management reporting
Upwards reporting to GISI, leveraging the OneStream reporting platform
Support the preparation of the Group Executive Management Team monthly reporting deck
Month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
Maintenance of the Group's accounting policies and ensuring they are correct and consistent application across the Group
Drive enhanced disciplines and controls across the Group and for compliance with the group accounting policies.
Manage the month end reporting timetable for the Regions (and Group teams)
Consolidate the Regional reports and prepare the Group monthly reporting pack, including adding the appropriate level of insight and analysis
Cash control, reporting and forecasting (weekly, monthly and quarterly cash forecasting) and driving working capital improvements
Input into financial systems strategy and implementation
Be a technical contact for audit/accounting issues - build a relationship with the external auditors and stakeholders in the GISI accounting team
Provide local finance teams with technical advice to ensure that reporting submissions are in accordance with Group GAAP requirements
Group consolidations, foreign currency transactions, intercompany transactions
Proactively develop the group's consolidation methodology
Liaise with the Regional finance teams to ensure balance sheet reviews take place
Ensure that all entities are in statutory compliance and that our entity tracking tool (Diligent) is up to date
Assist with Group holding company audits
Stakeholder management (including liaising with stakeholders in GISI and being part of the GISI controllership community)
Essential Criteria:
Appropriate professional experience with good leadership skills and the ability to pivot between system, process and technical detail to strategy development and solving high-level management issues
Sound knowledge of IFRS, company law and UK GAAP / FRS 102, Tax (VAT, withholding tax, corporation tax)
Prior experience in the following areas would be an advantage: timesheets management, International Treasury / foreign exchange, Intercompany accounting, Fixed assets accounting, tax filings and compliance, month end close processes, journals entries, General ledger accounting, consolidation, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, year-end close processes, and other statutory financial filings
Proven capability in generating reports for leadership to support management decisions while helping to ensure control over data and transactions under the guidance of the leadership
Excellent organizational skills
Strong numerical proficiency, problem-solving skills and excellent use of logic
Strong analytical, planning and financial management skills coupled with the ability to thrive under pressure and balance several competing projects at once
Ability to resolve complex issues, build solid relationships and deliver outcomes
Ability to liaise closely with corporate and regional leadership, senior managers, project teams, other employees and external service providers
Ability to drive and manage change and build virtual / project teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required
Desirable Criteria:
Certified Public Accountant or equivalent (e.g. Chartered Accountant) qualification preferred
Experience working at a global level
Stakeholder engagement with a parent company
