This is a newly created role arising to support the Financial Controller who has been promoted. It is based in the offices at Preston. The role will report to the James Mercer Group Head of Finance. This is an exciting time to join the business as James Mercer Group establishes new ways of working as part of Tendra Technical Services Group and a time where support is needed to realise growth opportunities.
Scope and Responsibilities
This is an important position being part of a team comprising the Head of Finance and 5 finance staff. This is hands on roles and it is expected that the person would support compliance, manage the reporting end to end, support finance improvements and support the James Mercer Group MD and the business as required. This role will carry the demands to make things happen quickly and also be given a high degree of autonomy to support change.
The key responsibilities include:
Preparation of the weekly and monthly reporting for review by the Head of Finance
Preparation of WIP calculations and monthly sales and purchases reports
Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
Management of CIS scheme and RCV
Maintain Subcontractor ledger
PAYE submissions and compliance
Production of annual accounts and liaising with external auditors
Pensions Management
Fixed Assets
Assist Head of finance with supervision of Payroll, Credit Control, Purchase ledger and Sales Ledger
There are several finance priorities including developing reporting that is suitable for PE investors, implementing a group-wide ERP system and establishing forecasting/budgeting processes. This person would support these as required
The right person will be an enthusiastic member of team, with an appetite to learn & develop, calm when under pressure whilst working in a changing environment, good communication, organised and have a strong work ethic.
Experience needed: -
5 years + of finance roles in industry
Worked in a fast paced & changing SME environment where deadline must be met
Knowledge of the construction industry would be desirable
PAYE/CIS/VAT including RCV experience would be desirable
Desire to learn and develop. This role could be a stepping stone to gain experience or there could be opportunities to progress within the Tendra Technical Services Group.
