An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced

Assistant Headteacher - Teaching, Learning & Assessment

to join a thriving and inclusive school in Coulsdon. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a strategic leadership opportunity with a timetabled teaching commitment. The post will initially be a training and development placement, with the expectation of full SLT progression following a successful appraisal review.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment across the school. Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will lead curriculum innovation, strengthen assessment practice, and build capacity through staff development to ensure every pupil experiences ambitious, inclusive, and high-quality learning.

About the Role

As

Assistant Headteacher - Teaching, Learning & Assessment

, you will:

Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning across all pathways. Drive curriculum innovation and assessment strategies to raise standards and pupil progress. Mentor and coach middle leaders, fostering professional growth and consistency in practice. Embed evidence-informed pedagogy and a culture of continuous improvement. Monitor, evaluate, and report on the quality of education to the SLT and Trust. Support the implementation of inclusive and differentiated teaching to meet diverse learning needs. Contribute to whole-school development planning, policy design, and strategic decision-making. Take a timetabled teaching commitment aligned to your subject specialism.
We Are Looking for a Candidate Who:

Holds

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

and has proven leadership experience. Demonstrates a

strong track record of improving teaching quality and pupil outcomes

. Has expertise in

pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment

. Can inspire, coach, and develop others to achieve high performance. Values inclusive education and has experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs. Is highly organised, reflective, and committed to professional learning. Displays excellent communication, interpersonal, and ICT skills.
