Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial accounts, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making. This position requires expertise in accounting software and financial management, along with strong analytical skills to drive the financial health of the organisation.
We are looking for a candidate, with three years' experience in a finance team role, we welcome those who are already part qualified CIMA/ACCA or already hold an AAT qualification.
This role requires an individual to demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong numeracy abilities, and high level of proficiency in various IT applications, including Microsoft packages and case management systems.
The main purpose of this role is to produce timely management accounts, including detailed KPI reports for the teams, monitoring cashflow, budgets and creating/maintaining financial procedures to ensure the organisation remains stable and compliant. In summary the role requires you to:
Producing accurate and timely management accounts and developing further KPI reporting.
Managing lockup to maintain sufficient liquidity.
Ensuring process efficiencies through liaising with all stakeholders of the business and suggesting improvements where necessary.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Updating and monitoring cashflow forecasts on a daily basis to aid planning of future liquidity. This includes creation of budgets and future cashflows.
Producing management accounts and introducing new reports to assist with strategic decision making.
Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) via:
The maintenance of a KPI database including input and output indicators.
o Production of monthly KPI reports for each Fee Earner and Paralegal.
o Answering employee questions and providing guidance as requested.
Liaising with our Legal Aid Cost Draftsman and Care Team to ensure swift resolution of legal aid queries and prompt legal aid billing.
Variance analysis of monthly management accounts.
Maintaining routine financial procedures including reconciliation, posting invoices and transactions.
Maximising the firm's cashflow through monitoring invoices, processing interim invoices, overseeing debt collection and where necessary prioritising supplier payments.
Conduct other reasonable tasks on request. Provide financial advice and guidance to the Managing Director.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
Candidate Specification
Experience
At least 3 years' experience in a Finance Team role.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Ability and confidence to present financial information.
Experience of Microsoft Office and a Windows Operating System.
Experience working as a Financial Manager in a Legal Service provider - Desirable
Experience of using case management software - Desirable
Qualifications
Part CIMA/ACCA Qualified or AAT Qualified.
Two A-levels to grade C or higher.
Previous knowledge of legal aid is advantageous.
