What's the role?



Within this opportunity you will assist with the management of day-to-day accounting services in the specific service line to ensure that the team consistently meet deadlines and provide a first class and highly professional service at all times. You will help to develop an expanding internal Centre of Excellence (CoE) and oversee resource planning for team members and participate in accounting related projects. You will manage, supervise and develop team members, maintain and develop relationships with the team's clients. You will deputise for the Senior Manager during absence and support them when required in order to fulfil the team's roles and responsibilities.


What you'll be doing


Support the Senior Manager and Head of Jurisdiction in order to deliver a first-class professional service to clients, both internal and external Deputise for the Senior Manager in their absence when relevant Manage the timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts Manage the timely and accurate production of monthly and/or quarterly VAT returns Manage the timely and accurate production of monthly CIS returns Monitor the quality and service levels of team ensuring compliance with ISAE 3402 requirements Ensure financial statements prepared are in line with UK GAAP/IFRS or other appropriate standards Manage stakeholder's expectations Monitoring all jobs of the client to ensure timely and efficient completion Planning and organising own client portfolio and team time planning Oversight of appraisals for all team members and conduct appraisals for members of the team Review current workload and resources Supervise team in relation to client activities and procedures Plan and prioritise own and team workflow Understands and complies with relevant organisational policies and procedures, supporting the Senior Manager to manage risks around the accounting function

The ideal background for this role:


Recognised accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA) A minimum of 5 years' practical accounting work experience Direct experience of producing financial statements for a variety of corporate entities within various jurisdictions Experience of managing, developing and coaching others in a team environment Experience of exceptional external and/or internal client service Experience in a financial services environment, ideally in fund administration and/or real estate is preferred Exceptional understanding and knowledge of current industry and accounting legislation, regulation and working practices Exceptional knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excellent knowledge of UK VAT would be preferred Excellent knowledge of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is preferred In depth knowledge of Yardi would be preferred Working knowledge of an accounting system Ability to deal with complex accounting matters Ability to manage and resolve difficult client matters Decision making with conflicting and demanding deadlines Progressive and takes responsibility for self-development and that of others

Role Location/Hybrid Schedule



This role will be based in our Southampton office. Although the nature of most of the roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual's preferences and circumstances.
