We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and analytical
Assistant Manager (Accounts & Audit)
to join our growing practice. This is a client-facing role with responsibility for managing audits, preparing accounts, supervising junior staff, and supporting the Audit Partner in delivering a high-quality service. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical ability, leadership skills, and excellent communication in managing both clients and staff.
Audit Leadership & Supervision
Assist in planning, executing, and completing audits across a diverse client base.
Lead audit fieldwork, allocate tasks, and supervise junior team members.
Review audit files, ensuring compliance with auditing standards and firm procedures.
Address technical issues and escalate complex matters to senior management when required.
Accounts & Tax
Prepare statutory accounts and financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards.
Oversee preparation and review of self-assessment tax returns and related compliance work.
Client Relationship Management
Act as the main point of contact for allocated clients, building strong professional relationships.
Provide proactive advice, support, and clear communication to clients.
Team Supervision & Development
Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
Review and sign off junior staff work, ensuring accuracy and professional standards.
Project & Workflow Management
Assist the Audit Partner in managing multiple assignments.
Ensure jobs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
Contribute to departmental initiatives and maintain a positive team environment.
Key Requirements:
ACCA fully qualified
(essential)
University Graduate - MBA / MSc degree is preferred
Minimum
3 years' experience
in audit and accountancy
Proven experience
preparing self-assessment tax returns
Proven experience in
audit and accounts preparation
within a professional practice environment.
Strong technical knowledge of auditing standards and accounting principles (UK GAAP/IFRS and HMRC compliance) is essential.
Ability to handle complex, cross-border financial matters is essential.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with clients and teams.
High level of professionalism, objectivity, and independence in client interactions.
Strong working knowledge of
