We're looking for an Assistant Cafe Manager who is not only a confident and skilled barista but also a natural leader. Someone who can set the standard, inspire their team, and step up with energy and focus whenever needed.

What you'll be doing:

Running the Shift

Manage rotas, cover gaps, and ensure the right people are in the right roles. Lead team briefs, allocate responsibilities, and keep shifts running smoothly. Maintain full menu availability by overseeing stock, prep, and communication with chefs. Deliver excellent coffee and ensure your team is trained to do the same. Lead shifts confidently, ensuring a great experience for both customers and staff.
Standards & Compliance

Ensure every drink and dish meets Roots & Berries' quality standards. Oversee food safety and compliance records using our in-house systems. Keep cleaning, maintenance, and presentation standards consistently high.
People & Training

Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training. Coach your team, celebrate wins, and give constructive feedback. Spot rising stars and help build a strong succession plan. Promote equality, kindness, and a positive workplace culture.
Customer Focus

Be the friendly face of the cafe, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Handle complaints professionally and prevent escalation. Ensure high standards of personal presentation for yourself and your team. Be a first point of contact for customer event enquiries and co-ordination.
Financials

Support your Cafe Manager in achieving financial targets and driving sales. Monitor food, labour, stock, and wastage accurately. Take part in (and sometimes lead) stock counts.
What we're looking for

Previous cafe/restaurant management or supervisory experience. Great communication and people skills - you inspire and motivate others. A confident shift leader who stays calm under pressure. Strong barista skills and a love for great coffee. A focus on quality, safety, and high standards. A team player with a hands-on approach. Strong organisational skills. experience using google suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar etc) beneficial Experience of working with budgets and P&L's preferred.

You will report to: Your Site's General Manager

You will work closely with: Cafe team, Head Chef & Sous Chef, Central Support team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 13.50-14.20 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
