Who we are
We are Second Nature Care, a children's residential service providing 24 hour care and support to children aged between 8 years up to 17 years, who display challenging behaviours and/ or emotional difficulties.
As a residential service we believe that our children deserve the best possible care and support that we can offer. Positive and meaningful relationships with our children are key to success in supporting attachments.
We understand that our children have suffered trauma and therefore we work with a trauma informed approach and follow the PACE parenting methods in order for our children to feel safe and secure, whilst supporting them to achieve good outcomes.

Working Assistant Manager.
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed and experienced team member to take on a key leadership position. The role is suited to someone with a strong understanding of residential childcare and proven leadership capability.
Purpose of the Role
The Assistant Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and day-to-day operation of the residential children's home. You will work closely with staff, young people, and professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and child-centred care in line with Ofsted regulations, the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Support the Registered Manager in delivering a high standard of care in line with regulatory frameworks.
Provide effective leadership and supervision to staff, promoting a positive team culture.
Lead shifts and ensure the smooth running of the home, including decision-making in the absence of the manager.
Contribute to staff development, performance management, and team meetings.
Ensure staff adhere to safeguarding and behaviour management practices.
Safeguarding and Compliance
Promote a safeguarding-first culture and respond appropriately to concerns, incidents, and disclosures.
Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with policies and regulatory requirements.
Support inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and internal standards.
Monitor care practices and ensure that the emotional, physical, and psychological needs of the children are met.
Child-Centred Care
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and act as a consistent role model.
Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans.
Promote educational, social, and emotional development in line with individual needs and goals.
Advocate for the rights and welfare of young people in all aspects of care.
Operational Support
Participate in the on-call rota, providing support and direction outside of core hours.
Assist in managing rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and shift cover.
Liaise with social workers, families, schools, and other professionals as required.
Ensure the home is well-maintained, safe, and welcoming.
Our children live with us usually due to adverse childhood experiences and trauma. What we need
Education
GSCE or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
Residential Childcare 1 year in a supervisory role (Required)
Residential Childcare 2 years experience
Supportive environment (Preferred)
Level 3 or 4 in Children's Residential Childcare (Required)
Licence/Certification
At least 1 year minimum Driving Licence and business insurance (Required)
