Job summary
Working in a team with Louise Gemmill (Senior Manager - Infrastructure Grants Project Management, IGPM) and Paul Ahdal (Head of IGPM - North) , the Assistant Project Manager of Infrastructure grants will play a critical role in managing a range of small to medium grant investments and supporting team members on some of the larger and more complex grant investments under agreed assurance frameworks and Grant Determination Agreements . You will be joining our experienced, multi-disciplinary team, who are committed to making positive change in supporting infrastructure delivery and unlocking hundreds of thousands of homes across England.
Job description
The IGPM team looks after a range of infrastructure grant investments, from small grants to some of the largest most complex investments that Homes England makes (up to 250 million+ at project level). This role will include working on schemes funded by the Housing Infrastructure Fund and the Brownfield Infrastructure Land Fund, which cover the breadth of the country and vary in scale and complexity from project to project. These investments come with significant political and stakeholder interest and are subject to regular monitoring, reporting and assurance reviews. We are looking for a mixture of strong administrative, analytical and communication skills combined with the ability to prioritise tasks in response to urgent requests for information within tight timescales.
Paul believes in delivering first-class customer service, resolving project delivery issues informally wherever possible by taking an innovative and creative approach. The team highly values and encourages working in a collaborative and flexible way to foster good decision making and problem solving.
The Assistant Project Manager of Infrastructure Grants will have responsibility for managing a portfolio of grants at various stages in their life cycle (from preliminary works, through infrastructure delivery to the completion of housing units) requiring site visits to a range of geographic locations across England as well as supporting our Managers and Senior Managers with some of the more complex infrastructure schemes. There are some ambitious initiatives to get involved with and this is an excellent opportunity to balance day to day delivery whilst bringing innovative solutions to the infrastructure funding offering.
This is a rare chance to shape the future of infrastructure and housing delivery in a national organisation with real social purpose. Working with key stakeholders and a professional team you will have the opportunity to help create new communities and places within the country.
Person specification
Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our stakeholders, you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate.
You'll be comfortable supporting the IGPM team with a wide range of complex funding and programme issues, ensuring that projects are performing in line with expectations. You will be proficient in project management, assurance and monitoring in the built environment with a desire to continue to develop professionally.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn't always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at every level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as a team. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
With some experience of working as part of a dynamic team, you'll be able to demonstrate that you can work with others in a collaborative, inclusive way. You will have a range of technical skills, experience, a calm professional approach to getting work done, tenacity in problem solving and a willingness to learn. You will be happy travelling to team meetings and wider Homes England events around the country.
Having knowledge of the UK housing market, grant-based public sector programmes, property / infrastructure projects, contract management or analysis of project cashflows and appraisals would be very beneficial for the role.
If you've got the relevant skills or experience and a passion for how housing delivery can improve lives, then we would like to learn more about you.
