Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our depot. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management and logistics, with a focus on continuous improvement. This role requires effective leadership skills to manage staff and ensure the efficient operation of warehouse and transportation management systems. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards in shipping and receiving processes while optimising profit and loss.

Responsibilities

Oversee all depot operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Manage supply chain activities, including inventory control, shipping, and receiving. Implement and maintain warehouse management systems to enhance operational efficiency. Utilise transportation management systems to optimise delivery routes and schedules. Conduct regular assessments of depot performance, identifying areas for continuous improvement. Lead a team of warehouse staff, providing training and support to enhance productivity. Monitor profit and loss statements, making strategic decisions to improve financial performance. Ensure safety protocols are adhered to within the depot environment, including forklift operation. Collaborate with other departments to streamline logistics processes and improve service delivery.

Experience

Proven experience in a similar role within supply chain or logistics management. Familiarity with warehouse management systems and transportation management systems is essential. Strong understanding of profit and loss management within a depot or warehouse setting. Experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, as well as inventory control practices. Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification is preferred but not mandatory. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong leadership qualities with experience in managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
