Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled individual to join our already established great team as an Assistant Manager at Millfields Care Home.

(Not exhaustive);

Work alongside manager discussing feedback on staff, residents, environmental issues and training and be constructive on improvements and suggestions Be aware of new policies and procedures, implement and monitor them to fulfill statutory and organisational requirements with regard to the following:- Health & Safety (ensure risk awareness on environmental and client issues (Environmental Health Act)*
Employee's rights of employment and equal opportunities.*
Residents health and emotional wellbeing needs within the Health & Social Care Act 2008*
Organisational issues to promote high standards of care and develop quality assurance, giving guidance to all staff in order to achieve these goals.*
Establish good communication skills with other agencies, staff and residents to ensure accuracy in identifying problems, managing issues and monitoring evaluations made. Participate in Good governance of home completing audits to reflect quality of care and areas that require improvements. Prior to placement of new residents, participate in assessments in liaison with social workers or similar agency, either within their own home or place of residence, to identify care needs in order to determine the level of assistance required and suitability of placement. Work in close liaison with senior staff in all departments to delegate care tasks and organise staff within their own work role, advise and support where necessary, sorting out problems when they arise. Carry out on call duties out of hours as person responsible for advising staff Act in absence of Manager for on call duties as necessary, advising and sorting out problems when they arise and complete staff rotas if required. Attend meetings regarding legal implications within Wakefield Care Home Sector when required, to update knowledge of new legislation. Update own knowledge and skills as required by the Care Qaulity Commission and H&SC Act 2008. Identify organisational weaknesses and give input to improvements where necessary, to ensure customer satisfaction and achieving maximum bed occupancy, maintaining overheads at a sensible level. To commence new members of staff on an induction programme to be completed within twelve weeks. Monitor and advise them how to approach the issues on basic skills, keeping a record of time span and instruct how to gather their information. Ensure they understand the importance of attending induction training sessions. To assist with in-service training sessions as necessary. To assess candidates on Health & Social Care awards and ensure the national standards are maintained as required. To act up in a managerial capacity in absence of Manager in liaison with administration staff for support.

To have an awareness of supplies and stock control and lead on this in absence of manager Be responsible for the environment, delegate jobs to staff members to ensure the maintenance of equipment and safety of the environment is a high priority. Take part in interview sessions when required. Fill in forms in relation to care and sort out mail in absence of management, seeking administration staff advice on any non-caring information to ensure continuation of services. Monitor keyworking, assess, plan, maintain and liaise with keyworkers on a regular basis to evaluate residents needs. Monitor all residents documents, main files and care plans and approach the various key workers on any information not completed. Act as part of the care team in a supervisory role. Check fire zones once a week with staff members and log the details. Advise, be supportive and offer information to residents, relatives and visitors wherever possible. Organise and liaise with senior team for social events, asking advice when needed. Oversee that medication supplies are ordered each month as instructed on the calendar and document stocks in observation and stock control books every month. Support Management on confidentiality aspects concerning residents and staff. Carry out disciplinary procedures and document grievances as and when necessary. Participate in staff supervisions and document advice, training and development and forward to manager's office. Work within the Infection Prevention and Control Agenda/programme. Assist in minimising the spread of infection through safe practice, compliance with relevant Policies and Procedures and effective use of the provided equipment. Follow instructions carefully and diligently in the event of an outbreak. Speak to senior team members if you have concerned about others practice.
