We are seeking an experienced and proactive

Assistant Manager

to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Business whilst reporting to the Business Manager. The position involves learning a permanent managerial role through on-the-job training, assisting with leadership duties, and developing key skills like team development, customer service, and operational compliance. The role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and focuses on building the skills and knowledge necessary to transition into a full-time Business management position. This key leadership role will drive operational efficiency, ensure the achievement of budget and profit targets, and oversee a range of activities. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong operational management experience, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:



Take ownership of the management, planning, logistics, and execution of all workshop activities, including maintenance, and installation projects. Oversee invoicing, financial processes. Lead a dynamic team of engineers, and an administration assistant. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment while ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and on time. Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure adequate resources are available to meet both current and projected order demands. Develop, forecast, and report on monthly sales, costs, and team performance. Proactively manage operating costs and office overheads to ensure the department's profitability. Ensure all workshop and site activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and legal regulations. Regularly liaise with the Health & Safety Officer to uphold the highest safety standards. Ensure timely delivery of relevant documentation post-project completion. Exhibit strong leadership qualities and teamwork skills, managing operations independently and effectively while maintaining open communication with senior management, including the Business Manager. Ensure all activities align with company quality assurance processes and procedures. Identify risks and implement corrective actions to maintain smooth business operations. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients. Your ability to foster trust and open communication will be essential in securing repeat business and long-term client satisfaction.

Exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong connections with both internal teams and external clients. Outstanding communication, influencing, and negotiation abilities, enabling effective stakeholder management and driving successful outcomes across all levels. Strong background in project management and operational oversight, with a focus on managing complex projects from initiation through to successful completion. Experience in leading and motivating diverse teams, fostering a collaborative environment that drives high performance and operational excellence. Analytical mind-set with the ability to assess performance data, identify trends, and implement improvements to achieve business goals. Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring profitability within the department. Proven problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to think on your feet and resolve operational challenges swiftly and effectively. Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and legal compliance, ensuring all activities meet industry and regulatory requirements. Hold a full clean UK driving licence. Experience and understanding of how to read and interpret engineering drawings. (CAD drawing experience advantageous) Proficient in MS office software and general computer use. Educated to a reasonable level suitable for the position we are offering.

Pay: 30,000.00-35,000.00 per year
