Job Title: Assistant Manager / Head ChefAbout the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Assistant Manager / Head Chef to support the overall running of a fast-paced kitchen serving burgers, fried chicken, pizzas, and other quick-service hot food. This dual role combines strong kitchen leadership with front-line management support, ensuring smooth operations, consistent quality, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Lead by example in the kitchen, overseeing food preparation, cooking, and presentation. Support the General Manager with day-to-day operational duties. Supervise and motivate kitchen and front-of-house staff, ensuring teamwork across the business. Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times. Assist with rota planning, staff training, and performance management. Manage stock rotation, ordering, and inventory control to minimise waste. Monitor quality, portion control, and speed of service. Handle customer queries or complaints in a professional manner. Step into management duties when the General Manager is off-site. Ensure a positive and safe working environment for the team.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Head Chef, Assistant Manager, or similar role in a busy food environment. (2-3 years) Excellent cooking skills with the ability to maintain consistency under pressure. Strong understanding of HACCP, allergens, and health & safety practices. Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain). Proven leadership and communication skills. Good organisational skills with the ability to balance kitchen and management duties. Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.
