Main purpose of the job:
You will provide effective assistant management of the Company's transport and operational functions and support the Contracts Manager to plan and co-ordinate all transport operations within budget, continuously improving the operation for increased efficiency and customer satisfaction, whilst maintaining high standards of service within the operation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To include (but not limited to):
Assist to plan, organise, monitor, and control operations across the Depot including efficient management of vehicles and drivers, always ensuring budgetary control, whilst maintaining service levels.
Assist to effectively resolve escalated driver or transport issues.
Efficiently assist in managing resources and control costs, identifying, and removing waste and error to increase operational efficiency.
Provide various reports/spreadsheets as required for internal departments and customers in a timely manner.
Promote and maintain high standards within the business at all times when dealing with staff, customers, and prospective clients.
Promote constant motivation within the team to achieve an efficient and effective environment for all.
Assist in allocating and managing staff resource in line with operational needs, consistent with volume trends and identify and fulfil training needs for your area of the business.
Ensure full compliance with FORS, HSE and other relevant legislation.
Assist with ensuring the fleet is maintained and compliant in line with relevant Transport Legislation, through monitoring, auditing and liaising within the Department's management team.
Ensure all Drivers and Deckworkers always maintain a high level of professionalism.
To complete any other reasonable duties as instructed by the management team.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assist with coaching, mentoring and developing staff including overseeing new starters.
Provide oversight and direction to your team.
Help to lead staff using a performance management and development process including objective setting, feedback and identifying training & development needs.
Receive complaints and resolve problems.
Aid with the responsibility for managing and recording attendance including timekeeping, sickness absence and annual leave.
Ensure security of all personal or sensitive company data at all times.

Strong communicator
Confident telephone manner
IT literate in use of a variety of software packages including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
Able to organise workload with clear time management skills for working to deadlines
Ability to work from own initiative and also as part of a team
