We are looking for a confident Assistant Purchasing Manager with 2-3 years' experience, in Construction or similar to join our team. Our successful candidate will be a team player, who is willing and able to take the lead where required.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, 08.00 to 16.30 hours but can be flexible.
Job Summary
They will report to the Purchasing Manager and support them in procuring materials, equipment and services needed for construction projects; while ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Also contributing to development and deployment of purchasing strategies and playing a key part in managing supplier and key stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities and Duties
:
May include but are not limited to:
Collaborating with design, estimating, onsite operations and commercial teams to understand the original sub-contract works
Manage design change variation in materials
Manage material quotation procedure before and throughout the construction phase
Communicating changes and updates with purchasing team
Assists Purchasing Manager to monitor system indicators of stock and communicating over ordering / errors etc to the wider team
Creates cost projections, controls spending and identifies opportunities for cost savings
Analyses and compares consumption reports
Updates price lists, compiles reports and maintains reports as required
Ensures compliance with company policy, procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
Maintains the banned substance list and COSHH records
About you - The successful candidate will have:
2-3 years' experience in a purchasing role in construction or similar
Strong commercial acumen and credibility
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Qualifications
: Excellent grades in Maths and English. A CIPS qualification would be advantageous
