Salary: Circa, 28,000 per annum (plus an Inner London Allowance of 3,270 per annum)

Brief Description

About the role
The Renewals and Minor Enhancements - Signalling team is involved in numerous projects from major re-signalling works to level crossing conversions and signalling alterations at various stages of undertaking. This provides a great variety to the everyday workings of the team and requires an individual to understand and balance the importance of each.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team an Assistant Project Engineer would be expected to support the discipline specific Project Engineers, and Designated Project Engineer, with their day to day running of technical assurance activities. This would include, but not be limited to, the management of the various project trackers used to record progress towards delivery, attend multidisciplinary review meetings and attend site visits.
The successful candidate will be given a development plan, and training, targeted towards future progression within the business and will be expected to maintain records of their development.
About the role (External)
Key accountabilities
Assist the Project Engineer in the preparation of specifications.
Assist the Project Engineer in the supervision of design development and the checking of designs.
Assist the Project Engineer in the monitoring of construction work to monitor compliance with design, standards, and legislation.
Assist the Project Engineer in the development and maintenance of quality systems throughout the lifecycle of projects.
Assist in the monitoring of project construction HSQE.
Maintain a log demonstrating own development and achievements towards meeting the competency requirements to discharge the role of a Project Engineer.
Essential
Engineering qualification in a relevant discipline (GNVQ, ONC, HNC, Degree).
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Good communication skills (verbal and written).
Understanding of railway operations.
Desirable
Appreciation of commercial and procurement procedures.
