We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team! In this role you will work with the Head of Financial Reporting and the rest of the finance team to ensure that key aspects of the company's financial accounting processes are appropriately administered and information is available in a timely fashion. The job holder will be involved in various financial activities including IFRS16 lease accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and finance processes and controls.
Key Accountabilities
To work with the Head of Financial Reporting and the rest of the finance team to ensure that key aspects of the company's financial accounting processes are appropriately administered and information is available in a timely fashion
Assisting with IFRS16 Lease Accounting processes, including liaison with property function to ensure timely updates of our property management software (MRI Horizon)
Support rent and rates accounting.
Support other utilities accounting.
Support the Head of Financial Reporting and Financial Controller with miscellaneous reporting and various other financial activities as required.
Manage the allocation and recharge of property costs to appropriate entities within the group
Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns
Complete all necessary regulatory submissions related to goods entering Northern Ireland
Work with external auditors to ensure robust group and subsidiary statutory accounts are produced within the required timescales.
Assist with the monthly review of your owned Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss areas.
Help to ensure that the Head of Financial Reporting and Financial Controller are well informed of the company's financial position.
Ensure appropriate processes exist within the finance team to identify key areas of risk and agree with the Head of Financial Reporting appropriate plans to manage those risks.
Work with auditors and external parties to ensure that core accounting controls are appropriate and consistently implemented.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Essential
Part qualified accountant.
Interested in technical accounting and a desire to develop in this area.
Good communication skills
Competent in the use of Excel, including the use of formulas and pivot tables (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, IFERROR).
Desirable
Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Dynamics and MRI Horizon.
Knowledge of IFRS16 Lease Accounting.
Experience of liaising with external providers - banks, auditors, etc.
Good working knowledge of accounting systems & monthly accounts process - general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, monthly accounts process, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting.
