Job Description

There is an exciting opportunity for a full time Assistant Psychologist to join Swansea Bay University Health Board's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This is a full-time permanent post and is based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The post holder will be supervised by a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, working alongside them. This is a supportive group of practitioners including psychologists, family therapists, CBT therapists, EMDR therapists, art therapists and a play therapist. The post holder will have opportunities for service development, direct clinical work, group work, developing resources, managing data and undertaking audits.

The Assistant Psychologist will assist in the provision of a psychological service to children, young people and their families within the CAMHS service under the direction of the supervising qualified psychologist. The role will include delivering individual psychological interventions for young people and their families and opportunities for co-facilitation of groups with other members of the CAMHS service. The role is likely to include co-facilitation of an art therapy group alongside an art psychotherapist and supporting interventions offered within the Eating Disorders service in CAMHS. The post holder will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection and evaluation of data and teaching.

All psychologists and psychological therapists (P&PT) in CAMHS belong to a wider group of child P&PT, who work across our regional surgical services, child health and child development services. This is a friendly professional network, including other assistant psychologists, with regular opportunities for reflective practice and CPD.
