Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term appointment for twelve months in the North Cumbria Complex Emotional Needs (CEN)Team. The CEN team work with a caseload of high risk, multi-agency service users. The team assertively work with our service users to assist positive engagement and promote recovery. We work within the Community Treatment Teams in North Cumbria and have strong links with 3rd sector organisations. This post will have a strong clinical role along with service development and evaluation projects. The successful candidate will be well supported and supervised, working alongside an experienced and committed team of clinicians.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will co-facilitate therapeutic groups and work with experienced clinicians to deliver interventions designed to promote positive engagement.
They will be involved on service evaluation and a service development projects.
Under supervision, contribute to individual and group sessions. Assist with psychological assessments and score, interpret and summarise psychometric data.

This post covers North Cumbria and the post holder will need to travel across the locality, with the option to be based in Carlisle or West Cumbria. The selection process involves formal interview and you will require Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced clearance before commencement of duties.

Essential

  • Upper 2nd class honours degree, or higher, in psychology.
  • Eligibility for graduate membership of British Psychological Society.
Desirable
  • Further studies in relevant field
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
  • Paid or unpaid work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities.
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice
Desirable
  • Experience of Assistant Psychologist work (paid or voluntary)
Skills and Competencies

  • High level of communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate and work in highly emotive circumstances.
