This is an exciting opportunity for two innovative Assistant Psychologists to join our well established and vibrant multi-disciplinary Community Team for People with a Learning Disability.
You will be an integral member of a team who are passionate about improving the lives of people with a learning disability. We take a trauma-informed perspective throughout our work, and utilize a wide range of psychological theories and models. We encourage Assistant Psychologists to develop a broad range of skills through experience, regular supervision and training.
One postholder will work within our learning disability and dementia pathway, alongside a psychologist and the multi-disciplinary team. This involves conducting neuropsychological assessments and writing subsequent professional reports.
One postholder will support Psychologists and wider multi-disciplinary team to provide our Positive Support (PS) clinic. The clinic involves meeting with the families and care staff of people with a learning disability whose distress presents as behaviour that is challenging to manage. This role involves co-ordination of the clinic alongside assessment, formulation, and delivery of an effective therapeutic response through making recommendations for direct care networks to implement.
We are looking for Assistant Psychologists who ideally have experience of working with people with a learning disability and additional mental health needs.
These posts cover a wide geographical area across West Surrey and North East Hampshire, and flexible working across our three bases in Chertsey, Aldershot and Guildford is required. The successful applicants' preferences will be taken into account when choosing which base they will be predominantly working from. Due to the travel involved, we can only welcome applications from people with a current valid driving license who have access to a vehicle for work-related purposes.
