An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist within the Arden Cancer Centre at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
This post forms part of the UHCW's Oncology Psychology Service which strives to improve the lives of patients and their families affected by cancer. The service was established in 2017 to provide much needed counselling, psychological therapy and psychologically focused care to cancer patients treated by UHCW clinicians under the care of the Arden Centre, as well as providing support, supervision and consultation to staff.
We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our dynamic service, who are passionate about making a difference in cancer care and supporting people to live well with and beyond cancer, including towards end of life. The Oncology and Haematology Psychology Service is part of the growing Clinical Health Psychology team working with people struggling with the psychosocial impact of their physical health condition or diagnosis.
This post will offer opportunities for the Assistant Psychologist to provide Psychological Support in the inpatient environment and observe qualified psychologists working therapeutically.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
We are looking for individuals with good organisational and communication skills and a commitment to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
This post has arisen as the current post holder has gained a place on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Training programme.
The role will include data management, audit, service evaluation, project work, attending patient information sessions and supporting training. A crucial part of the role is supporting the referral process in the service; this includes significant opportunities for multidisciplinary working.
The Assistant role represents the service at daily inpatient 'board rounds' and there are opportunities to work directly with inpatients, at an appropriate level, under the direction of qualified members of staff.
The role receives supervision from both the service lead and clinicians within the service and has access to peer supervision with Clinical Psychology and the specialist Oncology Counsellor.
