Job Description

The Oncology and Haematology Day Treatment Unit is located in the Queens Centre at CHH and is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm at present.
The Unit requires an enthusiastic nurse to join the team in the delivery of treatment and investigations, including chemotherapy. As a registered nurse, the post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care during their span of duty.
It is a dedicated service to patients with malignant and non-malignant Oncological and Haematological diseases.
The state of the art outpatients includes medical consultations, radiotherapy treatment and a large day unit that delivers intravenous therapy. The Unit enjoys excellent resources that deliver specialist care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be willing to develop venepuncture, cannulation, CVAD and chemotherapy administration skills.
It is essential for the post holder to have or be willing to work towards a post basic qualification in a relevant field and complete a SACT UKONS Passport.
Full training will be given. Good communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team are essential, as patients are cared for between ward and clinic areas.
A supernumerary period and full mentorship package will be offered to the successful candidate. In order to deliver the best nursing care to our patients we want to do our best to invest in you.As the post holder develops, they will be responsible for the training and supervision of others and as such, a teaching and assessing or mentoringqualification is desirable.
