TERRA Restaurant Sussex is currently seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to provide exceptional hospitality in our AA Rosette Restaurant. If you have a flair for exceptional service, combined with an excellent food and wine palate and proven experience leading a front-of-house team, we'd love to hear from you.

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, you will be leading the restaurant in their absence and supporting the restaurant and private dining delivery on busier days.

About TERRA Restaurant Sussex:

A beautiful AA Rosette restaurant at the foot of the South Downs with 60 covers inside and a further 50 covers on our South Downs Decking. In the recent BRAVO Awards we achieved 'Most Sustainable Restaurant' and we're second for 'Best Sussex Restaurant'. We pride ourselves on serving a 90% Sussex Menu paired with a fantastic Wine and Spirits offering, also locally sourced. Our restaurant open to non-residents is part of an award winning 4 Star Restaurant with Rooms,Weddings & Events Venue, Tottington Manor.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide a warm welcome to TERRA Restaurant Sussex, greeting guests with a smile and ensuring a memorable first impression. Manage reservations and seating arrangements efficiently, making every guest feel valued. Lead, motivate, train and support the front-of-house team to uphold service excellence. Handle guest concerns with grace and professionalism, ensuring their dining experience exceeds expectations. Oversee the flow of the dining room, coordinating with kitchen, events team and FOH staff to provide a seamless service. Coordinate with the management to maintain quality and safety standards.

Requirements:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end dining environment. Extraordinary communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage warmly with guests. Strong leadership qualities and team management experience. Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the capacity to make quick decisions. A well-presented and professional presence, reflective of TERRA Restaurant Sussex standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to 31,500 per year

Experience:

Lead Server / Restaurant Manager / Host : 2 years (required) High-end Restaurant: 2 years (required) As a Rural destination venue, own transport will be required
