Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic

Assistant SENCO

to work

alongside and train with the SENCO

as part of a dynamic leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural needs and is looking to develop their career in SEN.

The successful candidate will receive direct mentoring and training from the SENCO, gaining the skills and experience required to lead in this area in the future.

Key Responsibilities

Support the SENCO in developing and implementing

Individual Education Plans

Work with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure pupils' needs are met. Assist in monitoring and reviewing the progress of pupils with SEN, making adjustments as needed. Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions to support academic and personal progress. Maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes in line with school policies. Shadow and learn from the SENCO to gain hands-on experience of SEND.

Experience and Qualifications



The ideal candidate will demonstrate:



Experience working in a mainstream school, pupil referral unit, or alternative provision. A proven ability to support pupils with additional needs, including those presenting challenging behaviour. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with pupils, parents, and colleagues. A background in SEN or pastoral support, with a genuine passion for inclusion. Experience supporting colleagues or mentoring pupils would be an advantage.

Qualifications:



A level 3/4 Teaching Assistant qualification or a Teaching Qualification.
