Purpose of Position:
The Assistant Service Manager will support the Service Manager / Registered Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care for the people we support. The role emphasises creating a caring environment, complying with regulatory requirements, and implementing effective policies and practices.
Principal Responsibilities:
Business Operations:
Assist in the daily management of the organisation and act as the person-in-charge when required by the Service Manager / Registered Manager.
Provide information and resources to prospective individuals, including home visits for discussions.
Organise and conduct assessment visits for potential people we support.
Evaluate and determine the organisation's capacity to meet individual care needs, negotiating appropriate fees.
Ensure new people we support receive written terms and conditions and understand them.
Care for People We Support:
Maintain awareness of the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical, and material needs of the people we support, ensuring they are met.
Facilitate their involvement in decision-making regarding their lifestyle and care.
Collaborate with the individuals, their families, and professionals to develop personalised Support Plans that enhance quality of life.
Foster relationships that help the people we support engage with the local community.
Oversee healthcare arrangements, including medication management and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Staff Management:
Assist in the recruitment, appointment, and deployment of staff.
Promote effective communication among staff members and arrange regular staff meetings.
Support induction, supervision, and ongoing training for staff to enhance skills and competencies.
Coordinate staff scheduling and ensure compliance with employment regulations.
Workplace Safety and Compliance:
Report malfunctions and ensure the security and safety of the premises.
Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and identify potential risks.
Adhere to environmental health, infection control, and health and safety legislation.
Provide safety assessments and guidance regarding safe working practices in the field.
Financial Management:
Support the individuals we support in managing their own finances when appropriate.
Ensure proper handling of finances for those assessed as needing assistance, maintaining transparency and accurate records.
Person Specification - Essential Criteria:
Minimum of six months to one year of experience in a Assistant Management role within the last five years.
Relevant care management qualification or willingness to obtain the qualification within six months.
Strong leadership abilities and a self-motivated, organised, and flexible mindset.
Ability to handle pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to high standards of care and continuous training.
Valid clean Driving licence, with access to a car - desired
